Predatory

No idea, clueless love,
who lurks, waiting
to steal me, your prey
slow patience
silent and hidden

you don’t see, clueless love,
I have wandered away
strayed, unprotected
you left me
in the open, where
predators abound

my lithe frame, slender neck
eyes wide, alert
sensing the circling, tighter
mouths watering, muscles
flexed for a fight

unaware, clueless love,
walking ahead to
our future, I won’t
be meeting you there
alone, I am here

surrounded, I
turn slowly, meet each
gaze with poised intensity
fingers flexed, breath
deep and long

the predators
transfixed
become
my prey
